You’re never too old to go to space camp may sound strange coming from a “grown-up” creative director, but it’s the one statement I read recently that put a broad smile on my face and a realisation that our company mission at LemonTop Creative relies heavily on that one piece of advice.
Different people will read into that statement with different meanings, but I see it as a fun and creative way of saying it’s never too late to start exploring and learning new ways of thinking and working. At LemonTop, we encourage everyone to treat everything with the open mind and wide eyes of a child, constantly exploring, learning and creating. It’s that initial exploring that makes all the difference. Inquisitive minds are at the forefront of some of the most wonderful and creative design work we do. If we explore more, we learn more and if we learn more, it gives us all the ammunition we need to create new and exciting things.
The world changes in the blink of an eye and we all know the old saying, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks!” but I love the idea behind reminding everyone it’s never too late to learn something new, to improve yourself and actually achieve something you’re proud of.
Everyone at LemonTop works by the company values we have in place. They all tie in seamlessly and they all start with the first and most important one on the list, “Never Stop Exploring”. We work our way through these until we finally get to the one that completes the circle, “Improve Every Day”. The only way we can improve is to constantly explore what is around us, learn new things and use these to create new ideas, and that’s why we reap so many rewards when we “Never Stop Exploring”.
Whatever your personal “space camp” is, you’re never too old to do something about it. Start exploring now and never stop. No matter how old you are, no matter what experience you have, no matter how well educated you are, it’s essential that you never stop exploring. Do something different, visit a new place, walk down an unfamiliar path. You’ll soon start to build up all the skills and knowledge you need to make a better world for everyone around you.
